Crime Stoppers tip nets wanted woman By Andrea McCann, staff writer (Feb. 3, 2005)

A Crime Stopper tip called in around 11 a.m. Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a Shelburn woman wanted on a Greene County warrant for attempted forgery.

Jody A. Cliver, 28, was arrested outside a residence on Ninth Street Northwest by Linton Police Det. Sgt. Duane Collenbaugh and Reserve Officers Blaine Gillan and Kyle Butler. Cliver was staying with an older gentleman, who the officers believe was unaware Cliver was wanted on a warrant since Jan. 11.

Cliver was arrested without incident and transported to the Greene County jail, where she's being held on $10,000 surety or 10-percent cash bond.

Attempted forgery is a Class C felony punishable by two to eight years in prison and a maximum $10,000 fine.

"Eventually she would've been apprehended, but at the time we weren't actually looking for her, so it was a tremendous break having someone call in with good information," Collenbaugh said.

He said the Crime Stoppers tip line is a very useful tool for the department.

"We encourage people who see things to get involved," the detective sergeant said.

The Crime Stoppers number is (812) 847-5463. Callers may remain anonymous, and rewards may be offered for legitimate tips.
